On June 17, the event entitled “Tell me about Autism” was held at the Sala Marconi of the CNR in Rome.

The main objective was to increase awareness of autism and promote social and family inclusion. During the meeting, the latest scientific news on early diagnosis and clinical, educational and rehabilitative interventions were presented, with particular attention to the well-being of the families involved.

In addition to the GEMMA Project, special guests were two anthropomorphic social robots, NAO and QTRobot, innovative tools that help improve the social and cognitive skills of autistic children, offering emotional support and facilitating communication. These robots are also able to detect a series of parameters, such as the heartbeat or eye movements of children, which, once integrated, can provide useful data for a functional assessment.

Studies on Parenting and autism and how research can contribute to developing more sensitive educational practices oriented towards family well-being were also showed.

The podcast “Come Quando Fuori è Dentro” was presented as well, created by 12 autistic people and one neurotypical, with the aim of representing the universe of people on the spectrum and debunking some stereotypes. The podcast, created with the collaboration of the Cnr with the Sapenza University of Rome, was broadcast by RAI Radio 3 and can be re-listened to here https://www.raiplaysound.it/playlist/comequandofuoriedentro
